Chapter One: The Author
Here I am
I've been waiting in the wings
For things I thought had been and gone
Right just then
You blow me away
When the hell did you come?
You're dead funny
The life of the party
And you're fleeing in a taxi with moi
But it's your words
That will seal the deal
And steal what's left forever
And you know it clever
Cause I'm starting to see
You as the author of me
Noticing not
When this night should stop
I've been going on for chapter and verse
About love and law
And as I pour one more
I know I am getting immersed
In your compelling beauty
As you listen intently
In the dining room round at Claire's
We set up camp at the top of the stairs
And ride the whole night through
Me loving you
Knowing all is true
Cause I'm starting to see
You as the author of me
And all your jokes
And anecdotes
Stay with me ‘til morning then
Your words of hope
Left on post-it notes
Get me believing
That you are the author of me
That you are the author of me

Chapter Two: Before The Clocks Go Forward
I recall
When I had nothing at all
I would sit and stare at these walls
Hoping you would come
To take me out
Reduce my fears, erase my doubts
Give me something to shout about
From the rooftop of my mind
All the hope in you, please bring
Cause you're my light and you're the spring
My break, my dawn, my chance to sing
Once more
Before the clocks go forward
We sit close
Sipping Earl Grey along the coast
We make do and we make the most
Of a future we now share
So pull me in
Envelop me and then we'll begin
To encapsulate our thoughts within
Our hearts that feel right
All the hope in you, please bring
Cause you're my light and you're the spring
My break, my dawn, my chance to sing
Once more
Before the clocks go forward

Chapter Three: From Above
Are you from above?
Cause you're so beautiful
Are you full of love?
In your heart and soul
Cause I see you everyday of my life
And I wanna know
That you're as gorgeous girl
As you seem to be
And you can change my world
If you're here with me
And I want you everyday to myself
And I will show you
If you
Take my hand and climb aboard my home made ship
I can show you the world, you can teach me friendship
Breathe in and feel the sun upon your face
Enjoy this life that together we'll embrace
And you amaze me girl
With the strength you show
When life's in a whirl
You just seem to grow
And I need you for everyday yet to come
And it will be fun
Come
Take my hand and climb aboard my home made ship
I can show you the world, you can teach me friendship
Breathe in and feel the sun upon your face
Enjoy this life that together we'll embrace
Are you from above?
Show me love

Chapter Four: Stay
Lost for words, flown have birds so believe in me
If Hitler's in heaven then that is my luck as far as I can see
Think it's better to have had your wish than to wish that you had
Think of all the moments and they can't make me sad
So Stay
Stay with me
It's been so long since someone was proud to hold my hand
And although it's to and fro in time you will understand
So Stay
Stay with me
I just need somebody through the night
I just need somebody to hold me tight
I just need somebody thought the longest and the coldest night of my life

Chapter Five: Dash To The Bathroom
My Little Miss Everything...
Dave what's his name
Does guard the door
Kids do barricade
Me in for sure
But I ignore
Them all
I mirror postures
I'm all smiles
While they're perusing
An array of pencils
From their house
I raise a toast
“I do wish to announce
No matter the matter
It don't get no better for me
And my Little Miss Everything”
We battle with scrabble
On this rainy night
A ludicrous circus
Which I did invite
Myself into
Can I akin to
Their multiple chasms of clues
Tell her no matter
They won't get the better of me
Their chatter and banter won't affect the future you see
She's my little miss everything

Chapter Seven: Meals For One
As I wake up this morning I know that something ain't right
I recall an account of events which occurred here last night
Where our screams hit these walls, the ricochet bruised my soul
I now look into the distance, where things seemed bearable
Well as she said back then she knew that we wouldn't cope
But I was blinded by the light that shone from the glare of hope
And she added that sheer cowardice had only kept her here
And with that she left me remanded to a life wrapped in fear
And somewhere, somewhere out there
She is waking up to her brand new life
And somewhere, somewhere out there
Another man is with my wife
Whilst I'm struggling on
As I walk the rooms that we once called our home
The realisation hits me, I'm on my own
Gutted, sparse, stripped, just a hollow shell
If the ground could swallow me up, I'd rather be in hell
‘Cause I know my heart is as bare as this place
But will I get the chance to bear down upon her face?
As I eat my tea off a box in an empty room
The worse thing is, what other troubles loom
And somewhere, somewhere out there
She is getting on with her brand new life
And somewhere, somewhere out there
Another man is with my wife
Whilst I'm struggling on

Chapter Eight: Request To Stop
With time
They say I will heal
But I feel
I can't even deal
With time
Rolling on for nothing
When nothing ever comes
We're still
Until we pile on the tram
To work
Where I'm a single serving man
And I look out
At those who shop
And I wonder
When does it stop?
I'm not even sure who I am
I pretend to be a boy when I'm a man
I wish I could say I've done all I can
But it's not true
It's just not
And I am running out of steam
And I'm heading for fuck knows where it seems
I'm running out of steam
So stop the world cause its time for me to leave
My love
Left me up to my eyes
In debt
To those I despise
And yet
As I reach town end
I realise I miss my friend
I'm not even sure who've become
I pretend to be something when I'm no one
I wish I could say I'm proud of what I have done
But it is not true
It's just not
And I am running out of steam
And I'm heading for fuck knows where it seems
I'm running out of steam
So stop the world cause its time for me to leave

Chapter Nine: In Hindsight
There's nothing left to put right
That is clear now in hindsight
It was wrong from the start of the off
I'd already had quite enough
Of all the lies you would feed to me
I would use my eyes to eventually
Find my way and find me feet
Enjoying each day and the people I meet
Now I know there's so much more
I don't wanna start a war
With you out of principle
And my god you're miserable
There's nothing right I can see
An abundance of catastrophe
Looming in the air surrounding you
What on earth are you gonna do?
When all your lives start to fail
You'll cry for help to no avail
Cause hope will go and so will I
You'll be sat here wondering why
Life has treated you so kind
And you just walk through it blind
A fool onto yourself
The way you are you'll come in twelve
If I could change the world
I'm not sure I would just for you my girl
Cause I'm moving
If I could change the world
I'm not sure I would anymore
There's nothing wrong with the way I am
I'm just taking my time to become a man
Whilst you sit there still playing god
I've packed up for good and I've left the squad
And when you think you're got things right
Call me up on that lonesome night
And I'll tell you where you should go
But I am guessing by then that you'll already know
All the love you could have made
Should have brought me to your aid
Well, do you think you'll cope?
Christ, it's beyond a joke
If I could change the world
I'm not sure I would just for you my girl
Cause I'm moving
If I could change the world
I'm not sure I would anymore

Chapter Ten: So Sorry
If you see her out please tell her that
I've left her messages but she ain't gotten back
I guess she hasn't the time
Please let her know I really don't mind
Cause time plays with you and leaves a taste
Of all the good that now has gone to waste
It leaves an airbrushed account
Of a life that you now live without
Cause I'm so sorry
For all I did
I'm so sorry
I never let her in
If she asks of me please let her know
I've been doing alright; don't say I've been low
I just hope that she agrees
There was little left, I was on my knees
Faith was broken in two, tears fled from our eyes
If she don't wanna know me now, that's no surprise
I guess the pain lingers on
I lost all those battles but the war I won
And I'm so sorry
For all I did
I'm so sorry
I never let her in
If I could think of love, I'd think of her
All the arguments, well now they don't matter
It was written in the stars
But I'm not quite sure why it's been so hard?
And though it's been sometime, I'm waiting still
Will I get over her? Don't think that I will
It's the in-jokes that haunt me
And right now my friend they don't seem that funny
And I'm so sorry
For all I did
I'm so sorry
I never let her in
I won't be the first, I won't be the last
To feel the hurt and pain of the past
It's just her I miss
If you pass by her place, tell her this
That I'm so sorry
For all I did
I'm so sorry
I never let her in
I'm so sorry
I'm still sorry

Chapter Eleven: Left In Knots
Lost at sea
Drowning in the blue
I knew
You would come to rescue me
You took me in
Up on your boat
Once afloat
You took me where I'd never been
So until your ship returns to dock
I can never sail the sea
So I wait to see
If by chance your ship returns to dock
I'll be waiting here for you
Like I always do
Tied in knots
Thrown overboard
I clawed
Onto this rock to watch you go
And as you depart
My fractured heart
Beats the sound of emptiness, but I hear hope
So until your ship returns to dock
I can never sail the sea
So I wait to see
If by chance your ship returns to dock
I'll be waiting here for you
Like I always do
‘Cause it's frightening to be alone
